Jesus loves you

In every town, children would come running from all over to gather around Him. Somehow, they could see that Jesus was very different from anyone they had ever met. People of all ages would come to hear His powerful words and see His awesome miracles. But the children wanted to be close to Him because of His gentle ways and His kindness. He made each child feel important—like being the kid of a mighty King. He would pick up the little children in His arms, put His hands on the bigger kids and bless each one.

Some of the grown-ups saw the children around Jesus, and said; "Don't bother Jesus—go away." But when Jesus saw this, He was very upset. "Don't ever chase children away," He said, "for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14).

Jesus loves children! He likes them to be the way they are because they don't think of themselves as being the greatest, or imagine that they know everything like some adults do. Children just believe things about God without trying to figure everything out first.

If you sometimes feel that you don’t really count for anything and that no one notices you, just remember that you are very important to the greatest King of all. He cares so much about you that He even warned the adults, “See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven” Matthew 18:10.

Have you ever wondered what God looks like? You may imagine that He looks like a person—just a whole lot bigger—or maybe you think of Him as not really having any shape. No one knows what God looks like because we cannot see God with the bodies we have now. But there are many things we do know about God because He has told us about Himself in the Bible.

This powerful God of the universe is interested in you as a person. Even though He keeps the world going, listens to prayer from all over the world and takes care of all the problems, He still has plenty of time to care for you. In fact, God cares about you so much that He thinks about you all the time. David, the shepherd, wrote in one of the Psalms: “How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand!” Psalm 139:17-18.

Scoop up a handful of sand and try to count every grain. If you had one grain of sand for every special thought God has about you, how many thoughts do you suppose there would be? Lots and lots and lots! Doesn’t that make you feel special?
