Notes of encouragement

These are personal notes to encourage those who
have asked for prayer:

  • To Jessica (Canada) - It sounds like there's a lot going on and a lot you're dealing with. It's not surprising that you are struggling to focus at school. We pray that things will come right, that you will feel the peace of Jesus in your heart, and that you will be able to do well at school!
    From Truth for kids
  • To Amanda (USA) - Sometimes we are afraid of something but we don't know what is making us feel all tense and worried. That feeling is called anxiety. Paul says. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" Philippians 4.6. Now we know that you have prayed about this, and we will pray too. We pray that Jesus will give you peace inside and help you to think only of good things.

  • To Wyatt (USA) - Your prayer is that the Lord will help you to be good, and He will, through the Holy Spirit who lives in you. We ALL struggle with disobedience, whether it is disobeying our parents, the authorities, or the Lord. We all mess up. But because you love the Lord and read His Word faithfully, you will get it right more often than not. So don't get discouraged! When you mess up, say sorry; do what you can to set things right and then get back on track.
    From Truth for kids
  • To Jenna and Abby (USA) - We are praying for the 12-year-old boy Saul, that the Lord will heal his body as He healed the boy in John 4:46-53. May the Lord also give his parents peace in their hearts.
    From Truth for kids
  • To Brian (USA) - Obeying our parents and obeying the Lord is something we all struggle with. But you have found the key that will help you do this. By praying about our weakness, we become humble before God and show that we cannot be good in our own strength - we need Him. We do, however have to do our part in being obedient; but when we love the Lord and our parents, it is so much easier to obey. We pray that by reading the Bible and praying every day, that you will grow strong in your faith and love for the Lord.
    From Truth for kids

  • To Izzy (USA) - People who wrote the Bible usually wrote about things that were happening at they time the lived. Sometimes God would tell them to write about things that happened before they were born (like Moses who wrote the first five books of the Bible). God also told some people about things that would happen in the future (like the prophets, or like John who wrote about how the world will end). They mainly wrote on papyrus, which was a paper made from a plant, and used a sharpened reed or the tip of a feather as a pen.
    From Truth for kids
  • To Sara (México) - May the Lord fill your heart with love for your family and help you to keep growing in Him.
    From Truth for kids
  • To Izzy (USA) - Certain colors are used to remind us of God or Jesus. White reminds us of the purity or holiness of God. Gold makes us think of Heaven where God is. Purple is the color of royalty, and Jesus is our King. Red reminds us of the blood of Jesus when He died to take away our sin.

There are 24 hours in a day but during Bible times they started counting the hours when the sun rose at the beginning of the day, which was at 6 o'clock. And so, at 7 o'clock it was the first hour of the day; 8 o'clock was the second hour; 9 o'clock was the third hour. Look up these references and work out what the time was: Mark 15:25, Mark 15:33, Mark 15:34.
    From Truth for kids

    From Truth for kids
  • To Said (USA) - We will pray for your brothers, that the Lord will help them and bless them.
    From Truth for kids
  • To Leah (USA) - The Bible gives us many examples of the early church praying in groups. The Lord knows that by praying together we encourage one another, and our faith is strengthened. We do so hope that you will find someone who, like you, is looking for a prayer partner. When you find someone who you feel is the right person, don't be shy to ask him/her to pray with you. Make a special time for prayer and then talk through the things you want to pray about.
    From Truth for kids
  • To Izzy (USA) - Good question! We don't know what kind of fish swallowed Jonah, but because it was a large fish people have likened it to a whale. However, the Bible doesn't say it was a whale. What it does tell us is that it was big and that God specially prepared it. In other words, God could have made a one-of-a-kind fish that was especially suited to keep Jonah alive for three days and then spit him out on a beach. God loved Jonah and He loved the people of Ninevah. He will go to extraordinary lengths to save people and show them His love.
    From Truth for kids
  • To Ryan (USA) - May the Lord bless you and help you in every way. May your family be filled with love for one another and sense the joy and peace of the Lord.
    From Truth for kids

    From Truth for kids
  • To Izzy (USA) - We all mess up! Even people in the Bible, like Peter who followed the Lord closely. When we ask God to forgive us, He does so immediately because He wants to make things right - that's why He sent Jesus to take away our sin. If you still feel bad, it isn't the Lord making you feel bad. He is only too happy to have you as His beautiful child, and He loves you SO much! But the devil often temps us to do wrong, and when we fall into his trap, he makes us feel guilty for having done so. Your heart is clean, so go out and tell others that Jesus can also forgive them as he has forgiven you.

The sharp things at the bottom of the dead sea are probably salt crystals. As you know, crystals have very sharp points. The dead sea is salty because of the minerals that are carried by the water of the Jordan river that flows into the dead sea. However, there is no place for the water to flow out. The water simply evaporates, leaving the salty deposits behind. That's why the sea has become so salty, and because no plant or creature can live in the water, it is called the dead sea.
    From Truth for kids

    From Truth for kids
  • To Andrea (Canada) - The only way we can show others that God loves them is by letting them see His love flowing through us. Just as Jesus left His disciples here on earth when He went back to heaven, He wants us to be lights in a dark world where we can shine for Him. It is great that you are friends with others who have a different faith, but it is important to read the Bible every day so that you can recognize the difference between our living faith and their religion. By knowing the Bible well you will also be able to answer their questions about Christianity.

Fear is natural. If we had absolutely no fear of anything we would probably do very dangerous and foolish things. Fear can also help us trust God. David, the brave warrior who killed the giant Goliath, said, "When I am afraidI will trust in you" Psalm 56:3. The word 'when' shows us that there are times when all of us are afraid of something. But at times like these, our fear should get us to pray to the Lord and trust Him to protect us. Remember, the Lord is right there with you all the time. He also has angels who protect His little ones (Matthew 18:10), so when you are afraid, remember that you are safe in hands of our mighty God!

  • To Maggie (USA) - That sounds scary! But you are safe in the arms of Jesus. If David the shepherd could protect his lambs from a lion and a bear, how much more will Jesus, our Shepherd, protect you! (See 1 Samuel 17:34-35 and John 10:11). Praying that the plans for your baptism will work out :-)

The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever."

  • To Andrea (Canada) - The Bible says that no one knows when the end of the world will come. But those of us who believe are on the winning side whatever happens. If the world does not end soon we have more time to enjoy God's wonderful creation and tell others about Him. If the world does end, we won't be around because Jesus would have come before then to take us who believe to heaven. We will be with the Lord forever in the most beautiful place you can imagine. See 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

  • To Maggie (USA) - Well, a journal page is a sheet of paper on which you can write your thoughts about the Bible and about God. The sheet can be put in a file which you could keep for years, adding a page every day if you want. There are a few little tick boxes that help you think about the part of the Bible you have just read. It also has a place to help you keep a record of what you have been praying about. In fact, it would probably be best to get someone to print a journal page for you. Then you can see what it's all about.

  • To Maggie (USA) - God has a very special plan for your life. Continue to follow Him the way you are, and He will help you to become what He has put in your heart. Maybe you could start by writing Bible stories in your own words. Then add a picture or two, print them, and give them to your friends or pop them into someone's post box. And guess what? You'll be a mini author!

  • To Andrea (Canada) - Unfortunately there are kids that grow up in homes where they never hear about God. But one way that the Lord can reach them is by using friends like you. We pray that He will give you courage to speak to them at the right time. And we pray that the Holy Spirit will make their hearts ready to listen.

  • To Maggie (USA) - Wow, that is really awesome!! May God bless you as you get baptized. Here is an activity sheet about baptism you may want to download - click here. A journal page is a page you can print out and use together with your Bible reading and prayer time. It lets you put down your own thoughts, and then place the sheets in a file. An easy, fun way to teach others about Jesus may be to print out the Uncovering Bible Treasure activity book - click here. You could take one page every day and discuss it with them. (If you cannot print it, I could email it to you mom or dad.)
